Pueblo is located south of Denver, and is one of the largest steel-producing cities, commonly referred to as the “Steel City”. The residences adopt this thinking partially because of their steel-strong resilience and determination of the community. And that may be true, as the United States Congress proclaimed the city as “America’s Home of Heroes” in 1993. The city also hosts National Medal of Honor Day and has had as many as four living Medal of Honor recipients living in this community. The diverse population offers a multi-racial and multi-cultural community and was named by AARP as one of the Top Ten Places to Retire for Less. Pueblo also boasts a climate where you can enjoy the beauty of all four seasons and the excitement of year round outdoor activity including mountain bikes, hiking, kayaking, golfing and more.
Located at the confluence of the Arkansas River and Fountain Creek, Pueblo has been a hub for transportation and manufacturing for more than 150 years. Pueblos is the home of the Federal Citizen Information Center, operated by the General Services Administration, and its Consumer Information Catalog. For over 30 years, public service announcements invited Americans to write for information at “Pueblo, Colorado, 81009”. Some of the largest employers in the area include Pueblo City Schools, Parkview Medical Center and Walmart. Currently, Pueblo is undergoing a transformation, including revitalization of the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk hoping to continue to increase their economic infrastructure.
